How to determine, if our supplying factory keeps updated on health and safety regulations?

    in OHS

It is necessary to lay a foundation to safeguarding workers security. On one hand it is important to know the local regulations in order grant compliance with law. However, beyond simply complying to law there might be risk to life and limb that might not be covered in local regulations.

It is advisable to understand the procedure in the factory to keep up to date. But if you intend to actively safeguard the compliance within the factory and also support the factory beyond auditing you also should understand the local regulations or include someone in your process to do that.

This leaves us with a set of questions.

    1. How can we learn about local regulations, especially when we deal with several countries ?

    2. How can we best understand the factory's effectiveness in being up to date on regulations?

    3. What is the best approach to team up with the factory to achieve best results together?

amfori-BSCI Performance Area 7: Occupational health and safety.

Question 7.1: Is there satisfactory evidence that the auditee observes applicable occupational health and safety regulations applicable for its activities?

    Link to the amfori-BSCI-System Manual:

    Comment:

The recommendations here focus not so much on the actual process of being updated on content but rather on being "in line" with them. The manual gives suggestions on how being "in line" might be figured out but still leaves me with no knowledge how tost
